Advanced Applications of Integrative Medicine for Mental Health Level 2

This live, 12-hour course is open to participants who have completed the Advanced Applications of Integrative Medicine for Mental Health Level 1.

This course addresses advanced methods, interventions, and case reviews. It will be conducted in 12 live webinars of 1 hour each. Participants will be provided journal articles and additional resources.

The teaching format includes live lecture, case review, and Q&A. Sessions include Group Discussion to review the application of methods based on CMHIMP course with Dr. Leslie Korn.

We will identify and resolve challenges encountered within the current caseload as one applies the BrainBow Blueprint™ methods as an Integrative Mental Health Medicine Provider with a particular focus on assessment and testing strategies.

Topics include clinical measures of psychobiology and psychophysiology, enhancing program adherence, and the applications of herbal, nutritional dietary, somatic, and other approaches in the BrainBow Blueprint™, including strategies for reducing and eliminating medications, matching intervention plans to personality and diagnosis, and specific protocols for intervention at different stages of readiness and recovery.

Participants will be asked to sign a confidentiality statement regarding case discussions.

This is an advanced program for all mental health professionals.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe an integrative approach to addressing polypharmacy and alternatives

  • Define the uses of Vitamin B-12 and Omega 3 fatty acids including testing methods for mental health

  • Define 3 concepts in evolving methods of trauma treatment

  • Identify the role of inflammation in depression and how it is measured

  • Demonstrate balancing exercises to support cognitive health

  • Describe 3 ways in which nitric oxide enhances mental health

  • Define the benefits of intermittent fasting for a client’s cognitive well-being

  • Discuss telomeres, how to test them and what they mean for a client’s mental health

  • Assess 3 biological measures that directly related to psychological function

  • Demonstrate strategies for motivating clients in their self-care process

  • Define methods to present or reduce withdrawal symptoms from antidepressants

  • Name 3 lifestyle interventions used for medication withdrawal

About the Presenter:

Dr. Leslie Korn is a renowned expert in integrative medicine for the treatment of trauma and its physical sequelae including chronic digestive illness, insomnia, pain, substance abuse, diabetes, cognitive decline, and “unexplained illnesses”. She has provided over 65,000 hours of clinical care integrating psychotherapy and somatic therapies with nutritional, culinary, and herbal medicine. She completed her training at Harvard Medical School and The Harvard School of Public Health. She is licensed and board-certified in 4 clinical disciplines. She has been a faculty instructor at Harvard in the department of psychiatry and faculty at two Naturopathic medical schools. She lived for 25 years in the jungle of Mexico, where she worked alongside indigenous healers and directed a pro bono health center. Her clinical practice focuses on helping clients who are ill by restoring their health and reducing or eliminating medications. Her mentoring practice focuses on helping clinicians create a successful, integrative medicine, trauma-informed career. Her ethic of compassion and care is informed by feminist values of social justice and her love for dogs.
