Online ADOS-2 Training with Dr. Whitney Guthrie (May' 23)

Description:

The ADOS-2 focuses on the application of assessment methods as it is a standardized and semi-structured assessment of communication, social interaction, play, or the imaginative use of materials for people suspected of having an autism spectrum disorder.

The course consists of a workshop that provide trainees with an introduction to the ADOS-2, including its development and role within the diagnostic process. Trainees will be exposed to its modular framework, and will receive instruction on how to administer each task on each module, and considerations for scoring. Videos of administrations will be used to show trainees the modules and tasks in action, and then discuss the resulting behaviours.

This training is suitable for professionals with a background in autism and formal testing, including psychologists.

This is an introductory program for all mental health professionals.

About the Presenter:

Whitney Guthrie, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine and clinical psychologist and scientist at the Center for Autism Research (CAR). She is also one of the authors of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition´s (ADOS-2) Toddler Module, where she worked with Dr. Catherine Lord and her team to develop this ADOS-2 module for children 12-30 months of age. Dr. Guthrie serves as the co-director of the CAR Data and Statistical Core. She earned her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Florida State University. Dr. Guthrie´s research focuses on the early developmental trajectories that characterize the autism spectrum disorder (ASD), with the ultimate goal of improving early diagnosis and intervention. Her research also includes the development of novel screening methods using clinical informatics and computed vision techniques. Her work in early detection and early intervention has been funded by the National Institute of Health Autism Speaks. Autism Science Foundation, and the Eagles Autism Foundation. Dr. Guthrie is also an independent ADOS-2 trainer. In her role as a tutor, she trains the next generation of ADOS-2 clinicians at the Children´s Hospital of Philadelphia and other institutions.
